Some independent researchers believe that the inhabitants of the Earth expects the next century of airships, and Russia will play in this matter key role.
But really, why at the beginning of the last century, facing the choice of airplanes or airships, humanity has chosen less reliable, less economical and less promising way air movement?

In this case, the goods would be delivered to anywhere in the world quickly (express delivery), cheaply and without any problems – is this not a dream of modern businessmen, businessmen and even scientists;
- safe, which we casually mentioned above. At modern technology (not to mention future or missed possible if scientists worked to improve airships, not aircraft) the reliability and safety of these air vehicles are many times higher than that of airplanes;
- in profitability, which we also mentioned. Airships like scientists say that they consume significantly less fuel than airplanes, especially if you count it on kilogram-kilometer;
- in the absence of the need to build expensive airfields with their huge and literally “golden” runways, which means not only cost savings, but also the ability to land an airship almost anywhere. It can just hover above the ground – and everything: unload-load, take-send passengers;
- in unlimited time in the air and so on. It seems that the researchers who today are seriously studying this the question is, they will name a dozen more advantages of airships over modern means of aeronautics.

The dubious flaws of the airships
There is an established opinion that is supported by skeptics that airships gave way to airplanes for the simple reason that they have many shortcomings. Let’s see if this is so:
- too low flight speed. However today we can build these huge aircraft that are capable of climbing into the stratosphere – for 20-30 kilometers, and there they can develop speed up to 2 thousand kilometers per hour (according to modern estimates, not to mention future opportunities). Therefore compare airships the beginning of the last century, which could not overcome the speed of more than 150 kilometers per hour, naively and even to some extent criminal;
- poor maneuverability. Also not true. Today the airship is not be sure to build in the form of the old gondola, it can be given almost any form – modern materials, and today’s technology, not to mention the future. A modern airship with jet (ion) engines will become behave in flight and landing no worse, but many times better modern helicopter airplane (we don’t take into account the military, it’s a completely different topic);
- huge hangars will be required for them. First, the docks for cruise liners are also considerable – and nothing. Secondly, yet it’s not known what is cheaper – docks for airships or runways for airplanes. Thirdly, the airship is for some reason considered before still piecemeal. When there will be thousands, tens of thousands, then the price of manufacturing and servicing each such aircraft will decrease many times and will cost much less than production and maintenance of modern Boeing.

Almost the same thing happened with airships. However time changing, today the balance of power in the world is being redistributed, and the world elite is losing ground more and more. And all this thanks Russia, which, as all the prophets say, has a mission spiritual, and hence the economic revival of our civilization. Therefore, there is hope that in the future people will abandon expensive, dangerous and completely inefficient aircraft.

And the long-awaited century of airships will come. The only pity is that those who stood at the origins of this type of ballooning will never know about victory for their ideas.
