“A dust devil” raged in Arizona

A few days ago in the American city of Tempe, Arizona a large sand whirlwind, also known as a “dusty” devil”.

A violently rotating funnel formed right next to a busy roads and was soon captured on video by local resident Brad Anderson from the window of his car. By including the following recording, you can see this amazing natural phenomenon with my own eyes.

“Dust Devil” is a whirlwind formed at the surface of the earth in hot and cloudy weather. The earth is strong warms up under the sun, colder air hits her, rising up in the form of a spinning hot funnel. Such vortices reach, as a rule, 10-20 meters in height and 1-5 meters in diameter. A stream of air raises sand, dust, debris, stones from the ground and often carries them hundreds of meters. Extra large dust “devils” can be destructive, but most often these tornadoes do no harm to anyone unless you come close to them.

It is noteworthy that this phenomenon is also observed on Mars, however, there sand vortices have a width of 50 and a height of 10 times more than the coolest earthly ones. Twice such funnels even provided NASA services. “Dust Devils” cleaned the sand from the solar panels of the Opportunity and Spirit rovers, due bringing the amount of electricity received by the rovers, and machines were able to perform on the Red Planet significantly larger volumes of work than expected.

Despite the ominous name, nothing supernatural in “dust devils” no, science easily explains this atmospheric phenomenon. However, a year ago we wrote about Australian photographer Pete James Ingeme, who during his trip to America made utah mysterious in the Mojave desert utah snapshot of a huge sand vortex. In the tornado seemed human face similar to the ancient Egyptian pharaoh in nemes. So not all in this world it’s so simple, but with names and titles be very careful and attentive, because they can to stand far more than just a sound …
