“During the study, we found a lake area inhabited by 15 other individuals of this species, said a specialist at the University of Nevada Sudip Chandra. – Apparently, in this place they gathered in flocks and spawned. “The appearance of these fish in the lake was very worrying scientist, as they interfere with the ecosystem. These goldfish most likely, they got into the lake from private aquariums. Unclear hit whether the fish in the lake are already adults, or during the developmental period. By however, even small individuals can greatly affect nature lakes. Goldfish are not the only specimens of invasive species Lake Tahoe. According to Chandra, new species can not only eat fish grown here, but also secrete substances that lead to blooming water, which significantly pollutes the lake. Lately owners of aquarium fish often throw their “pets” in sewage or natural water, which causes nature significant harm. Because of such negligent owners of the lake of the USA and other countries regularly replenished with new invasive species. Exact the number of people throwing fish, of course, is unknown, but scientists know for sure that some fish could not in any way to be in these lakes in a natural way. According to the data scientists, more than 50% of fish owners admitted that they threw their aquarium fish. Invasive fish may also appear in unnatural habitats for them due to artificial breeding, live bait and together with long-distance sailing ships. Only on the eastern shores of the United States, there are more than 11 million invasive fish 102 species. Among the “guests” you can find tropical fish, seaweed and snails. One of the most dangerous species of marine Kowlerpa algae releases toxic substances that are fatal to other fish, which is why in 2000 it was exterminated in the pool Southern California. Scientists warn that owners of aquariums you need to be careful when they get rid of annoying or dangerous species of fish and other animals. Instead of throwing living creatures, you just need to turn to specialists who help citizens get rid of unwanted representatives of the wild nature.

So why do people throw their fish away? Probably, due to size and aggressiveness, experts say.
