Unusual hitchhiker named Hitchbot finished his journey through the United States after only thirteen days after the start. In the state of Philadelphia, he was beaten and his head torn off. Fortunately, the victim was just a robot.
That Hitchbot’s trips on American roads have been discontinued, said the owners of the robot on the social network Twitter. There photos of a damaged hitchhiker appeared.
Hitchbot reportedly traveled the route the owners. The robot can only rely on help. strangers, because they can’t move independently. When people come to him, he tells aloud where he needs to get, and asks to throw himself up, after having put him in the car. During Hitchbot rides with driver thanks to programmed algorithm and prepared set of phrases. In addition, the robot is equipped with camera and connected to the wireless Internet – it allowed he periodically take pictures and immediately upload them to social networks.
Hitchbot is the brainchild of Canadian specialists from the University Raerson and McMaster University. Previously, the robot successfully completed Traveling in Germany, Canada and the Netherlands. The inhabitants of these countries, caught by a mechanical hitchhiker, behaved with him very friendly and did not offend the defenseless robot.
According to Hitchbot owners, the latter will be repaired, and he will again be sent somewhere to travel. However, in The United States will no longer let the robot – the Americans were too aggressive.
