Who doesn’t know what the northern lights are a kind of light show in the silence of the Arctic Circle. Then why in fairy tales and legends of many northern peoples he always attributed also to the sound, a kind of mysterious whispers and voices with heaven?
Scientists have long believed that people in ancient times simply fantasized, they could not hear the sounds that, as now it turned out that they actually produce solar particles, which, crashing into air molecules, mainly nitrogen and oxygen, not only make them flare, “dance” in the night sky in a form of magical illumination, but also to sing.
True, singing is more like mysterious clicks and crackles, that is, just in obscure voices and whispers that reflected in folk tales. But how are people in antiquity could know about this?
The fact is that the human ear does not hear this “cosmic dialogue “(unless in the mountains, at least one hundred meters above sea level), however, fairy tales were the forerunner of modern scientific knowledge of the northern lights. Maybe those researchers are right folklore that claim that even the most a fantastic fairy tale has real facts and events. A therefore, the Serpent Gorynych and Baba Yaga, like many other characters those same Russian fairy tales are real participants of past eras. Just with some distortion of these realities occurred over time, and these characters (rather epics than fairy tales) turned and invented (in mostly somehow negative) heroes.
