Almost all of our compatriots who lived for some time in EU countries, they say something like this: Russians, do not idealize Europe, they also steal and deceive, the bureaucrat reigns the same arbitrariness, the streets of big cities are littered with garbage, and in shops and larceny theft flourishes cleaner than ours.
In turn, the owners of drinking establishments of which only come up with to counter deception and theft by visitors! Not so long ago we wrote, as in one of the Peruvian bars guessed to chain customers to the table so that they don’t fled without paying for the treats. In Belgium no less original fight against theft of exclusive beer glasses: here the visitor is asked to give … one of his shoes. And what, than not a guarantee that you do not run away, taking with you a rather expensive wineglass?..

Such an innovation was introduced in the Dulle Griet beer bar, which is located in the city of Ghent. Here visitors wishing to drink beer are polite ask to hand over shoes (one shoe is enough) as a deposit. At the same time, the shoes are hung in a special net in a conspicuous place, True, quite high – almost at the ceiling. And when the customer leaves bar, without taking a unique glass with you (see photo), he return his thing.
Amazing but adventurous bar owner Alex De Vriendt (Alex De Vriendt) bitterly states: even such a measure not always helps, because there are customers who prefer to stay without shoes, but with a cool beer a glass.

Belgian Philip Maes, owner of The Beer Wall in the city of Bruges, claims that in a year it loses about four thousand glasses, many of them real works art made specifically for the institution. It’s worth every a glass of more than 50 euros (here and calculate the annual loss of drinking institutions because of the seemingly stupid, almost childish theft).
That’s why Belgian beer bars are set up today. sophisticated alarm systems worth several thousand Euro, unique methods for tracking visitors are introduced, ridiculous, at first glance, means of combating thieves (like collateral in the form of shoes). And the thefts continue – no matter what.

We still think that in such “civilized” countries, like Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, etc., people don’t install alarms on their cars and do not even lock them. Right now, as I said would be unforgettable Mikhail Zadornov, who, incidentally, is very early noticed the sad tendency of European society towards immersion in a real mess and chaos. Of course, methods of dealing with stealing in Belgian pubs is quite worthy of the famous pen Russian satirist. Sorry, he will not be able to laugh at this with scenes and thereby convince us not to idealize Western Europe as before America …
