Unfortunately, not yet in Moscow, not in St. Petersburg, and not even in Nizhny Novgorod, and – in London. Such an unusual project will be implement a company of British architects Gensler which proposed to build new subway lines not with traditional rails for trains, and with bike and footpaths.
According to British architects, today London, like never before, needs new ideas for moving their citizens from one point metropolis to another. Bicycle tracks and paths for pedestrians on the subway are not only unload the streets of the capital of Great Britain, but also become additional energy sources.
At least they will be self-sufficient, since kinetic energy from friction of bicycle tires and steps of pedestrians will be enough for lighting and other energy services new subway branches. As planned by Gensler, tracks for pedestrians and bicycles will be separated, and along the route of this architects plan to build all kinds of cafes, shops and other trading establishments, which will also be run on renewable energy from steps and friction of tires.
The idea of architects Gensler seems to many British too extreme and almost impossible, but its authors themselves believe that it’s the only way to save London from traffic jams and further pollution. After all, a new organization decision subways, on the one hand, will allow us to direct a huge flow of people outside the city streets, and on the other hand, it will reduce consumption to some extent electricity and petroleum products.
There is another highlight in this project: its authors hope that the new subway will appeal to young people who love some independence in movement. And here she is the first to change seats with personal cars on subway bikes, thereby allowing the streets of London breathe lightly from traffic jams and exhaust gases.
