A new DNA study by Oxford scientists can finally uncover the secrets of Bigfoot. Scientists analyzed the yeti hair samples and found out that the mythical the creature may be just a subspecies of brown a bear.
At the disposal of Brian Sykes, Professor of Genetics, Oxford University, which was engaged in research, turned out to be hair two unknown animals found in the western Himalayas and in Bhutan.
The scientist conducted DNA tests and found out: the samples are 100% consistent with genetic material of an ancient polar bear, remains which were found on Svalbard – the northernmost archipelago Norway. Having examined the jaw of an ancient animal discovered in 2007 scientists have concluded that 40 thousand years ago, polar and brown bears were closely related.
Sykes suggests the yeti whose hair was found in Himalayas – the result of the crossing of two famous species of bears. it doesn’t mean that prehistoric people still roam in the Asian mountains animals: most likely, the Bigfoot is a descendant of Svalbard polar bear, concludes a scientist. However, the researcher admits that the hybrid could appear later and regardless of the ancient animal.
The legends of a mysterious snowman are composed by a local population for several centuries. Climbers have repeatedly argued that faced a huge monkey-like creature. In 1951 British climber Eric Shipton managed to photograph a huge trail of an unknown animal at the foot of Everest that made many believe in the reality of yeti.
Climber Reinhold Messner, who became the first person climbed Mount Everest without oxygen, also argued that more than once faced a mysterious creature face to face and managed carefully to study it. In addition, Messner allegedly saw a scarecrow of yeti in one of remote temples of Tibet.
However, among the local population, skeptics are close to a solution. Origins of the Bigfoot, were several centuries ago, claims Sykes. The scientist said that he discovered in one of 300-year-old Tibetan manuscripts have an almost scientific description of yeti: “bear species living in inhospitable mountainous areas. ”
However, Sykes research does not prove that Bigfoot doesn’t exist at all: the scientist analyzed only two samples, found in Asia. At the same time, another group of scientists who investigated materials obtained in the forests of North America, claims that the yeti belongs to a human hybrid. Researchers also refer to DNA examination results: in total, in During the study, 111 blood, skin and other types of fabric.
