Photo from open sources Chilean doctors were shocked when examined an elderly woman suffering from abdominal pain. It turned out that the ninety-one-year-old Estela Melendez for many decades have a baby.
This case, according to doctors, is truly astounding. The old woman visited the hospital and complained that her stomach hurts. Medical staff did X-ray and realized that the pensioner is pregnant. Child at the same time has been in the womb for sixty years. Of course, he has not alive – the fruit turned into pure calcium. Doctors first thought it a tumor, but a repeated x-ray discouraged them – it turned out to be inside petrified child weighing approximately two kilograms.
Similar phenomena are very rare in world medicine. At Estela, according to doctors, had an ectopic pregnancy. Child died, but the woman’s body was not able to remove it, and then the baby began to turn into calcium. Chilean not even suspected that all this time she was bearing the firstborn from her now deceased spouse, although she and her husband always really wanted children.
Surgeons felt that in this condition and in such a solid it’s very risky to have surgery, so Melendez, apparently, have to carry a petrified child to the end of life. Despite the fact that a pensioner periodically suffers from pain in the abdomen, a calcified fetus hardly represents any a threat to her life.
