According to State consumer inspection of Ukraine, more than 60%, that is, every second of toys inspected by inspectors, recognized as substandard. “Speech it’s not just about the urgent problem of children’s health, but about bleeding. If we also take into account the retail distribution network – the number of poor-quality toys jumps to 70%. “Where these additional 10 % are taken – one can only guess. We have an unscrupulous manufacturer, we work in bad faith Customs, or they get to our market through smuggling. Such the numbers suggest that there is an established system deliveries of such low-quality goods, “Kiyanichenko notes, adding that the leader in the number of substandard, if not dangerous for the health of children’s toys, Kiev and Kievskaya traditionally remain region. Arsenic was found in 5 samples; 1 – mercury, 3 – chrome, 1 – cadmium. In 5 toys (10%) found more one toxic metal, “said the project coordinator at Ukraine Olga Tsyguleva. At the same time, despite the fact that more than 80% toys on the Ukrainian market – Chinese-made, participants of the project state: the danger of the toy does not depend on it “nationality”. Toxic toys have been identified among goods. domestic production. Do not buy toys near the metro and without shamrock According to statistics, a child plays with a toy about two hours a day. During this time, she loses up to 8 mg of her material. Therefore, it is possible that toxic substances can get into the baby’s body. Prolonged contact with the toy, containing, for example, antimony, can adversely affect thyroid gland – this substance inhibits its function, causes nasal bleeding, skin lesions, sexual dysfunction. Lead increases the risk of cancer, like arsenic. Chrome slows growth and increases blood cholesterol. Cadmium causes acute poisoning and affects primarily the central nervous system, liver and kidneys. Mercury has a similar effect. If regulatory authorities identify goods that do not comply quality standards accepted in Ukraine – they can be fined manufacturer or seller, prohibit the sale of dangerous toys or withdraw the entire batch. But checks the same State consumer inspection can conduct either according to plan or in response to consumer complaints. But complaints arise when a poor-quality toy has already brought certain harm. To prevent this from happening – better play it safe and adhere to several rules. At first, always require a certificate of conformity. Of course it is not always a 100% guarantee of quality, but its absence significantly increases the chances that you buy low-quality product. “In part 2 of article 50 of the Constitution it is written that this information cannot be classified by anyone. You owe provide this information. If you haven’t been provided with it, you you can sue even on the basis of this article only, because that this is the norm of direct action, “advises lawyer Alexei Shumilo. Also pay attention to the labels: there must certainly be product conformity mark – shamrock, state mark DSTU standard. The product type can also say a lot. “Necessary to choose carefully, not to miss the first one. If very bright color, pungent smell comes from the toy – why buy it? “- emphasizes the representative of the All-Ukrainian Environmental Public organizations “Mom-86” Olga Tsyguleva. Also not worth buying toys at the entrance to the subway or at the elemental market. After all, saved time and a few hryvnias can be too expensive.
