Do elephants remember everything?

In 1986, a newly graduated Louisiana University Peter Davis decided to give himself a present in graduation and went on an exotic journey to Kenya During one of the walks, he saw a young elephant, standing with a raised paw. The elephant seemed terribly miserable and Peter, Gaining courage, he decided to carefully approach him. Walking close to the animal, Peter slowly knelt down and examined the raised paw. It turned out that a large sharp sliver. The young man took out his penknife and very gently pulled the tree out of an elephant’s leg. After that elephant lowered his sore leg, turned his face to his savior and became consider it – with curiosity, as it seemed to the latter. Several endless, tense seconds followed. Peter froze in place, thinking that now this whopper would surely trample him. But the elephant lifted the trunk and trumpeted loudly (probably it was something like expressing gratitude), and walked away. Twenty years have passed. Peter led his teenage son to the zoo. Approaching an aviary for elephants, a man saw one animal of his as if found out: the elephant came as close as possible to the place where they stood father and son, raised his trunk and made some joyful trumpet sounds. After that, Peter had no doubt that it was the same elephant, whom he helped in 1986. Without thinking twice, he got over the fence and, like twenty years ago, went to the animal. Later turned to the audience gathered at the aviary. At this very moment the elephant raised its trunk again and issued a victorious cry. After which he twisted with Peter’s trunk, he lifted him up in the air and threw him from all over fencing. Peter died instantly. It must have been another elephant.
