A huge coronal hole gapes on the Sun, which was the source of a prolonged magnetic storm on Earth. The outrage began on the night of June 1 and lasted more than a day. Kr -index characterizing the degree of vibration of the Earth’s magnetic field, reached 6 out of 10 possible.
Currently, the magnetic storm is over, but the Earth remains in a stream of very strong solar wind. Colossal sizes a hole where the magnetic field lines are open preserves geoeffective position.

From this area into outer space freely flows very powerful stream of high-energy particles. According to monitoring, the speed of the solar wind in orbit of the Earth exceeds 750 km / s, then as usual, about 350 km / s.

Under such pressure the earthly atmosphere trembles like a curtain on a draft. The result of the absorption in the polar cap was a series of auroras.
