Huge mollusks reaching a length of up to 18 cm, flooded Florida. This species of snails was first discovered around four years ago when the first huge clam ended up in Miami. Since then, the number of snails has increased so much that the situation literally began to get out of control. And this is not looking at all state authorities quantity.
These snails created real hell! And the main problem is not even the tendency of these mollusks to gluttony (snails systematically destroy many types of local crops and plants), the problem is that these snails carry infectious diseases. It turns out that huge mollusks harm not only agriculture Florida, but also pose a threat to the health and life of the local population.
Many methods have been used to control pests, including including extermination with organic pesticides. However since the stability of the snails exceeded all expectations, all of these attempts to confront mollusks did not bring the necessary results.
The problem has become so critical that local officials initiated the creation of a special “snail hotline” to workers could get to the place of manifestation of their activity as as soon as possible.
In total, over the past four years it has been eliminated. more than 158 thousand of these dangerous mollusks.
