More than two million residents of Santiago were left without drinking water. The reason for this was the pollution of the Maipo River, which serves as the main source of water entering the city.

Bars and restaurants by order of the city officials also suspended their activities. According to the message Chilean authorities, landslide became the cause of water pollution, recently descended in the Andes.
