Researchers at Haifa University (Israel) discovered a two-headed salamander, according to The Jewish Press.

Scientists Ori Segev and Antonina Plavikov note that, although various malformations in the salamander (especially malformations limbs) are not uncommon, two-headed representative they meet this species for the first time.

The exact cause of the mutation is unknown, but biologists suggest that in the shocking appearance of the salamander, water pollution is to blame sources, increased radiation levels and small population size, contributing to the increase in close ties.

Central Asian salamander, one of whose habitats is Israel, considered an endangered species. Adversity of this species of tailed amphibians in the country is due to intense pollution of water and soil, as well as technogenic destruction of them habitat.

According to scientists, salamanders are a kind of litmus test a piece of paper of the ecosystem of which they are a part. Pollution and others negative environmental changes are primarily reflected it is on the salamanders.
