At one of the graveyards, Penza made an unexpected and quite a frightening discovery.
Local undertakers who bury their late relatives in the same the same graves sounded the alarm. They noticed that the dead, those that have been in the earth for years have not mysteriously decomposed. Instead, bodies turn into idiosyncratic waxes. figures that look almost like living people. Cemetery staff they are scared and do not know what to do in such a situation.
Each of us is well aware of such a cadaveric phenomenon as mummification when bodies with good ventilation and a dry climate dry and completely lose moisture, which is why they do not decompose. Here in cold and humid climates something diametrically happens the opposite – the dead in the Penza cemetery turn into called fat wax, or adipotsir. This uniform and slightly the substance brilliant in a section reminds solid fat in appearance. She practically no odors and melts at high temperatures.
In the pathological anatomy, the phenomenon itself is called saponification, or saponification, and refers to late cadaveric processes. The grease is formed in high humidity and in the absence of air, which are sometimes found in such clay soils. In these putrefactive processes stop in a corpse, and organs and deceased tissues are soaked in water. Grease is formed mainly in muscles, skin, subcutaneous tissue and bones, and sometimes in the internal organs. The external form of the insides is often stored, and under the microscope in places you can find tissues with good preserved building.
One of the undertakers reports:
Even after five years in the earth, the dead look fresh, almost rosy-cheeked here, as if they buried only yesterday. This is a very strange phenomenon, we never have met anything like this before.
Some local diggers admit they are a little uneasy from such a find. By the way, in medieval Europe when discovered such corpses were believed to belong to witches or sorcerers who can wake up at any time. Remains such as easy to guess, then burned.
Could the local soil create favorable conditions for everything conditions for saponification of corpses? Quite possible. Penza journalists they also suggest that preservatives could lead to saponification, which modern man uses in large quantities. However, in this case, all modern dead should turn into such “fresh” corpses, but so far it’s strange the phenomenon is seen only at this Penza graveyard. And so far it’s a real mystery for scientists …
