And therefore, when on February 22, 1803 in the province of Hitati they found a vessel of a very strange shape near the coast, then, of course, quite surprised, but thought it was just some kind of foreign a boat.

Since the “foreign boat” showed no signs of life, then the fishermen pulled her ashore and began to inspect with curiosity. The mysterious vessel was about ten meters long, five – wide, and three and a half – in height. Struck the imagination the shape of the vessel, very similar to the Japanese censer – kohako, because which the Japanese gave him the name Utsuro-bune. Yes, and the material from which boat was made somewhat puzzled. For example, the top it was made of something unusual, outwardly similar to rosewood in dark lacquered wood. Bottom of the vessel was trimmed with round metal plates similar to copper, probably from pitfalls.

The fishermen were surprised by the windows of the little ship, of which there were several. They are were made of mysterious crystals, whether covered with wood resin, or colorless varnish, but the light was transmitted perfectly. AND looking inside, the men saw that the walls of the cabin are decorated some mysterious inscriptions (in an unfamiliar language).

Penetrating into the very cabin of the vessel, the fishermen were literally taken aback, because they found a young girl in her. She was unusual beautiful, with red hair that artificially lengthened elegant white threads. The girl was dressed in something long, fitting her slender figure, and sewn from a material which fishermen have not seen in their lives. Mistress Utsuro-bune is affable smiled at those who entered and babbled something in an unfamiliar language. At she pressed a mysterious box to her chest, to which no one let in.

Having found out nothing from the mistress of the vessel, the fishermen simply returned it to the sea and went about their fishing – they had without this strange boat affairs to the throat.

The meeting of fishermen with Utsuro-bune soon became the property of many residents of Hitati province, authorities and people of science became interested in it, however, attempts to find a “foreign” ship didn’t given. So this story remained only in the annals of the land, as a fleeting and strange mystery …
