Serial killers dating back to the second half of the nineteenth century, there were quite a few Jack the Ripper worth it. But the most mysterious and a mystical criminal of this level can be called the Lumberjack from New Orleans. At the beginning of the last century, he kept at bay almost the entire state of lusiana, not to mention New Orleans itself, where is all this and it started.
This serial killer killed his victims with an ax, as, however, and he hacked into the homes of the victims, hence his nickname – Lumberjack. At first, the Lumberjack, for some unknown reason, began to kill Italians, therefore, the police decided that this was some sort of showdown between mafia groupings. But soon I had to abandon this version, as the handwriting of the murders of a maniac became more and more unpredictable. For example, women were among his victims even pregnant women, as well as children.
The savagery and cruelty with which the Lumberjack killed his victims, terrified the Americans. It seemed that this maniac in these sophisticated killings wants to surpass all the famous Jack The ripper. To some extent, this was true, since The lumberjack wrote ominous messages to newspapers in which he hinted at yet another murder, and he called himself nothing other than the fiend of hell. However, this did not help in the investigation, the police could not determine the logic of all these crimes, it seemed that the lumberjack chopping everyone who comes in his way.
Killer orders jazz
The loudest event of this terrible frenzy Lumberjack became night from the eighteenth to the nineteenth of March 1919, in which maniac promised to commit another act of retaliation. At the same time he assured that he would spare those who at that time would listen to jazz. AND the whole New Orleans, and not only him, was listening to this crazy night jazz compositions that rushed not only from restaurants and night clubs, practically from everywhere. And the lumberjack kept his word – no one was hacked by him that night.

It is officially believed that in 1920 a widow shot dead a lumberjack Mike Pepitone, who became the last victim of a killer maniac named after Joseph Momfre. This version was put forward by a journalist. Colin Wilson. However another criminal observer of one of New Orleans newspapers Michael Newton carefully checked everything and did not find in police records of Mike Pepitone’s murder and arrest his wife’s retribution over Joseph Momfrom. Such names in general nowhere and never mentioned.
It turns out that the Lumberjack just stopped his terrible atrocities and therefore was not exposed. However, according to psychologists, this almost impossible, because such people are not capable stay in their crimes. It turns out that the Lumberjack someone or something stopped.
Different assumptions about this were put forward by writers and filmmakers. The most logical in this regard seems version, according to which Lumberjack caught on his love of jazz. And so in that fateful night, where there was an ambush, men (in one art the film – even witches) did not listen to jazz compositions, but waited maniac with an ax.
However, the same journalist Michael Newton wrote that this version as and the murder of the Lumberjack widow, very untenable. And not even because of such an ambush there is not a single trace in the police protocols, just a maniac was too cunning (well-led dark forces) to fall for such a naive bait. Rather of everything, the criminal observer believes, everything was much more prosaic, for example, the Lumberjack had fun this evening in some bar along with the rest who had to drink and listen to jazz, drunk and his heart refused.
