The British city of Swansea has the largest measles epidemic. By National Health Service of Wales, only for the last two days, 43 cases of measles have been recorded.

The epidemic began after vaccination in Swansea High School, when children received three vaccinations at once: from measles, mumps and rubella. As a result, more than 800 patients, almost 80 of them hospitalized. Most of the victims are children. Vaccinations were made for children aged 10-15 years, not vaccinated and not measles earlier. According to representatives of the health system, the epidemic – the result of refusal of vaccinations, which in the late 90s is false attributed to autism provocation. Parents reportedly affected schoolchildren pre-signed papers, giving their consent to triple vaccination.

Wales Health Agency Director Dr. Marion Lyons calls on residents of Swansea to remain calm. She also stated that the measles vaccination schedule will remain the same. Measles causes serious complications in approximately every 15th infected person. Possible complications include encephalitis, cramps, ear infections, bronchitis and pneumonia.
