Meet Mike – The Most Radioactive Fish In the world

A photo from open sources

The most radioactive fish since Fukushima nuclear disaster. Almost two years after a monstrous nuclear disaster near Fukushima caught fish with a record level of radiation contamination, 2500 times higher marginal rate. The radiation level in a fish called “Mike”, is 254 thousand becquerels per kilogram (despite the fact that the limit contamination for edible marine fish is 100 becquerel). The previous record belonged to fish caught on August 21, 2012, and was only 25800 becquerel per kilogram. As measures precautions at a distance of 20 kilometers around Fukushima Daichi new nets were installed to discourage infected fish spread further into the sea where it can become the food of others species. And while Mike is clearly a victim of radiation, fortunately (or unfortunately) there are no signs third eye, growing legs, or some other “expected” deformations.
