Meeting a trunk-like creature elephant

This story was told by a resident of Virginia Donald Baldwin. AND she argues that scientists still know little about our animal kingdom the planet.

It happened when Don was 11 years old and he lived in the city Alexandria (Virginia). At that time, the boy often ran to the pond to fish. The pond was small, and in depth did not exceed one and a half meters. He was behind the townhouse in which the family lived Donald.

On that memorable day, there was excellent sunny weather. Don came one to the pond because his friends failed for various reasons to keep him company. But the boy was even pleased: no one prevented him from catching frogs and small turtles for the aquarium. In water, near the shore, there were many stone boulders that don alternately turned over in search of “prey.”

With a little pester, the boy sat down to rest on one of the stones. And here some movement in the middle of the pond caught his attention. Looking closely, Don was amazed to see something that looked like a trunk an elephant that rose above the water. And then (Donald is ready swear it and now) he saw eyes on a strange “trunk”, and now the creature most resembled a giant snake! ..

The next moment, the “trunk-snake”, dissecting the water, with a decent moved toward Donald. He came to such the indescribable horror that threw everything in his hands and raced off the coast. A pond and a complex of townhouses were shared by a small plot of forest. Don rushed through him with a bullet, then, without slowing down speed, ran between the houses, flew up the stairs to his door and I nearly pulled it out of its hinges, with a force jerked at itself. But he even I didn’t know if this fantastic water creature can run! ..

Later, the boy thought for a long time about what, in fact, he saw. Based on the fact that this was indeed a trunk, then to whom it belonged to? No elephant could fit on the bottom of such a small pond. And besides, the “trunk” behaved as if, emerging from pond, he first looked around, and then saw Don and rushed to for some specific purpose, for example, to attack or curiosity. If the “trunk” had eyes, this could very well to be…

Tormented by these questions, Donald, though not immediately, forced himself return to the pond, but found nothing special. Subsequently, he caught fish many more times, and nothing overshadowed by his rest.
