The Japanese office of Microsoft, located in Tokyo, spoke about the results of the experiment on the transition to a four-day working a week. The experiment showed a performance increase of 40%. About it CNBC reported.

The company for the purpose of the experiment has withdrawn for one month 2300 of its workers in a four-day workweek, i.e. Friday was an extra day off for them. In this case, the salary workers were not reduced, and days were not taken from vacation.

It turned out that the result was positive not only for workers, but also with the company itself. Compared to August 2018 productivity grew by almost 40 percent. Together with that, the company saved on energy consumption by reducing it by 23 percent. The number of printed documents decreased by 58 percent.

Since the beginning of summer, there has been an active discussion of the possibility of transition to a four-day working week, in connection with which Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev made such a scenario.

Some experts believe that shortening the working day may also favorably affect the environment, as the enterprises themselves and other infrastructure at the weekend will reduce harmful emissions in the atmosphere.

ESOREITER previously announced a planned transition to a four-day working week in China.
