This pretty famous story, like most Yakut “horror stories” associated with spirits – though not evil, but benevolent spirits of nature, which are rarely shown to people on the eyes. Under certain conditions, they can still be seen, and untrained person such a meeting can greatly to scare.
The main character of our story will be a young girl from cities, who arrived in the summer in the Yakutsk village. With the onset of June in the middle strip of Yakutia begins white nights, and sometimes visitors it can be hard to fall asleep, especially in stuffy weather. So one day happened with the city guest. First she read a book, then drank milk with honey – hoping to fall asleep soon, but a dream to her and didn’t come. When the girl got tired of tossing and turning in bed, they decided go outside and get some fresh air.
The house of her relatives stood on the very edge of the village. There was a field nearby after him began the forest. Standing on the porch and thinking about her, girl suddenly I heard strange sounds from the side of the field, as if she were singing mansion a large crowd. Interested, the girl looked out for the gate and really saw in the distance a lot of people dancing osuohai – national circular dance of the Yakuts, accompanied chanting. The participants were very smartly dressed, as if they were celebrating big celebration.
Despite the fact that the melody was perfectly audible, the girl could not make out a word, no matter how hard the hearing. Without thinking twice, she went out from the yard and headed into the field. She seemed to have nothing to fear: everything around is light, as in the afternoon, and in front – a lot of merry people.

Overcoming a third of the field, our heroine noticed something strange. When she stood at the gate, she clearly saw that people were dancing in the center of the cornfield. However, the girl failed to get close to them. Dancing obviously managed to move on to the edge of the forest. Singing now for some reason sounded louder. And although there were still no words to make out, it became audible that the choir was breaking up into separate voices and each singer displays his own motive, ignoring the rest. The girl, however, did not attach much importance to this and continued purposefully striding towards people.
Surprisingly, as she progressed, the osuohai did not become closer, and when she reached the middle of the field, the dancers were already in the forest. Their faces remained indistinguishable, behind the trees on only bright, traditional outfits flickered at the edge.
At some point, the girl suddenly noticed that the dancers were gone, – either they went deep into the forest and fell silent, or it was all and she dreamed it all. Realizing that she is standing at night in the middle of the field alone, the girl was seriously scared and headlong rushed home.
In the morning, when she told her family about her adventure, those very they were surprised and explained that the girl had a chance to see dancing perfumes nature, and this is a very good sign, promising good luck and happiness. well and after that, the night traveler was thoroughly scolded for she went alone at such a late time, it is not known where and what for…
