How to understand this, the reader will ask, is there that time is somehow flowing in a special way or is it not at all? But everything is much more ordinary and simpler. Residents of the Norwegian island of Sommaroy, which is located beyond the polar around, in the summer period (from May 18 to July 26) have as many as 69 days when the sun does not set at all (does not go beyond the horizon). FROM November and January are all night.

In this regard, familiar to all other residents of our planets timekeeping time (when to get up, when to go to bed, when walking when returning home) is practically ignored here and not respected. For example, in the summer, many islanders practice “daytime activities” at three or even four in the morning, even children at this can play football outdoors, swim. And people are sleeping Naturally, also in the sun, often during the day.

About the same thing is observed during the polar night. (with the effect of “all the way around”), not to mention the rest of the times years when you can’t understand here when the morning, when the evening. Generally, it is clear that the Norwegians of the island of Sommaroy are used to living their own way time frame. It is for this reason that the island’s authorities under public support officially decided to abandon the obsolete traditional mode of life, declaring Sommaroy untimely zone.

It may seem like a joke or an advertising move, yes so it is is and in fact: in such a decision there is also a share of humor, there is also a considerable interest in increasing tourist interest in the island. After all, visitors will now fall into the “infinite summer “with a comfortable temperature throughout the period stay here, promising a lot more joy and pleasure than alternation of hot days and cool nights.

By the way, the bridge leading from the mainland to the island of Sommaroy, in contrast from many other famous bridges of the world, “decorated” with no locks, which people traditionally broadcast on the railing as a sign of memory, love, and for hours, which in itself speaks of a special relation to time on given territory of the Earth.
