Researchers counted about 15 thousand round holes off the California coast of Big Sur. Average holes have a diameter of about 11 meters and a depth of almost a meter.

Strange formations were discovered quite by accident when scientists to study the bottom lowered down modern sonars. It turned out that a third of the holes are clogged with garbage, man-made, while others settled marine the inhabitants.

Scientists can not yet explain the origin of these formations. There is a version that these holes are the result of methane emissions, however, in these places, these emissions have not been recorded dozens thousand years. According to another version – the matter is the garbage that settled to the bottom, and then underwater currents were gradually washed out from under it priming.

Currently, scientists have to study more thoroughly. this phenomenon and find out its origin, as in this place planned to build a power plant.

ESOREITER previously talked about what scientists know about intelligent life under water.
