“This creature struck us – as if it emerged from a scientific science fiction, – marine biologist Lisa describes her impressions Gershwin (Lisa Gershwin) from the State Association of Scientific and Applied Research (CSIRO). – The animal was electric, alive and so violet that it’s just wow, and its tentacles are about meters in length were covered with microscopic mouths. ”

According to Gershwin, a bright creature is very similar to a mosaic jellyfish (Thysanostoma thysanura), however, the color of representatives this species is completely different – brown or beige.

“We have not yet been able to determine the species of this animal, but, perhaps it refers to mosaic jellyfish, seen in Australian waters, and even more so near the southeast coast Queensland is a rarity as they inhabit mainly in warm tropical waters. We believe that purple jellyfish could go to Australia with ballast tanker waters from Malaysia or the Philippines, ”she reasoned.

The marine biologist also noted that the creature’s unusual coloration with multiple mouths, most likely, is peculiar warning sign.

“She seems to warn: do not mess with me, – Gershwin explains. – Although I don’t think her bite represents serious danger. ”

Later, experts admitted that a jellyfish unknown to science died during the analyzes, but stressed that they did not intend stop your research.

“I hope that studying under a microscope will give answers to all of our questions and will explain why no one has seen this creature before ”, – concluded a biologist.
