This can be traced even on the example of one Korea, which today it is divided into South – democratic, and North – totalitarian. Naturally, the May Day holiday of workers could not pass in these two countries equally. But it’s amazing – the difference is in him holding …
In the capital of South Korea, Seoul, a rally of thousands of people workers, whose main slogan was the demand to abolish labor and pension reforms, which are not so popular among the simple the people of the country eventually spilled over into a massive brawl protesters with security officials, who prudently (!) put in full combat readiness. People on the street were almost flooded tear mixture with water. Such a holiday can be called sooner a nightmare. This is democracy!
And on the other end of Korea, that is, in its northern side, with might and main sang and danced a massive national wedding, that is, passed funny festivities. This warm and festive day of work and ordinary people of North Korea started spring with traditional laying numerous wreaths at the monuments of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, after what began mass dances and songs in the main square of the capital – Pyongyang. And it seemed that there was no happier people at all white light. This is totalitarianism!
Of course, every social system has its advantages and cons, but aren’t we idealizing democracy too much? For example, in Soviet Ukraine was not there, but now it is, of course, there. AND if you compare these times, you want to return from today’s a democratic nightmare in a totalitarian Soviet Union. That represents American democracy, both for its own people (just mention the color that flares up now in the USA revolution, the clash of the African American people with the police in Baltimore and Philadelphia), and for the whole world (where the USA – there war, death, blood and tears), then you involuntarily think: what is is it the power of the people and for the people? It’s rather the same fascism, only subtly covered by beautiful words and loud slogans, and even to the vast majority of people that it’s they for everything in the answer …
May Day, like a litmus test, showed that represents a democratic society when it is democratic only in words.
