Phytoplankton bloom was photographed with the ISS Black sea

May 9, 2013 astronauts working on board the International space station (ISS) took a picture of phytoplankton bloom in eastern part of the Black Sea, off the coast of Anapa and Novorossiysk. Image posted on NASA’s official Earth portal observatory”.

Phytoplankton bloom in the Black Sea usually occurs In spring and summer. In the photograph, microorganisms are similar to turquoise and blue whirlwinds. The current picks them up off the coast and carries them into open sea.

The term “phytoplankton” extends to the ductococcal algae, diatoms, dinoflagellates, coccolithophores and other unicellular algae, as well as cyanobacteria, clarifies Wikipedia Phytoplankton can produce photosynthesis. ISS NASA
