In the Spanish village of San Bartolome de Pinares recently passed annual Fire Festival, or, as it is called here, the Holiday purifications by fire – Las Luminarias.
This tradition has been over five hundred years old. Happy New Year from time immemorial, local residents subjected their animals to purification from all diseases by fire. The date of the ritual has long been day of St. Anthony – the patron saint of animals, which is revered 16 January.
