Tasmanian wolf, also called tilacin, was marsupial mammals that lived in Australia. First given the animal was described by London naturalist George Harris in 1808 year.
In 1936, the last representative of this species known to science died at the Hobart Zoo in the south of the continent. Since then it’s believed that the Tasmanian wolves are completely extinct and may again be on our planet only through cloning.

Thirty-year-old Barry Murphy says: “It happened in Sunday, March twenty-seventh. Somewhere in half eleven in the morning I was driving along an empty country road and unexpectedly noticed some animal in front. I slowed down and first counted that it is a fox or a wild cat, however the animal was enough large, with a long tail. When I looked better, then suddenly I saw strips on his back. For a split second I even thought it was a tiger. I got out of the car and wanted to take off a mysterious beast on the phone, but accidentally slammed the door, and the animal hid in the tall grass. ”
According to Murphy, until this day he did not even know about the existence of Tasmanian wolves. Returning home, the man found information about of these animals on the net, however, was very puzzled that the marsupial the predator has long been considered extinct. Barry called University Melbourne and told scientists about what he saw. Specialists found out from an eyewitness where exactly he met the alleged tilacin, and Murphy was informed that he is not the only one who claims today about his meeting with a representative of an extinct species.
