The sunny sky of Florida and Arizona can become a true paradise a corner for older Americans however the best place to live in ages 60 and older is a small european country Switzerland.
According to the global index of the best countries for pensioners (Global AgeWatch Index 2015), which measures social and the economic well-being of older people around the world, Switzerland ranks first in the world and is the best a place for older people to live.
Norway and Sweden managed to win the second and third positions in ranking accordingly, and the USA got 9th place in the TOP 10 most prosperous countries of the world for the elderly.
The report covers 96 countries and 91 percent of older people. from 60 years and older.
Today, around 901 million people live in the world. 60 year olds and older people. In 2050, this number can be increased to 2.1 billion people, and will be 21.5 percent of the total population of the planet.
Well-being ratings are based on four factors: financial provision of elderly residents, health status, opportunities education, favorable living conditions, which include physical security, civil rights and access to public transport. To get an accurate estimate, I had to use the data of the World Health Organization, World Bank and International Labor Organization.
Switzerland got a leading position in the ranking due to special programs that aim to improve people’s lives in 60 years old and older. Similar strategies also work in other countries (for example, in Afghanistan), but in Switzerland they implemented most fully and efficiently.
