This is just the second specimen of this species found in British waters for 15 years. She is known as the False Cat Shark. (Psuedotrakias microdon) or sofa shark, fish, about three meters in length and weighing about 60 kilograms.
“I was very surprised when she ended up in our boat, – said Scottish biologist Francis Neath. – We quickly measured and weighed it before releasing it back into the water. This is very a peculiar creature, large and baggy, which is interesting watch. A shark is like a soft sofa. ”
Many Scots probably don’t even suspect that off the coast Scotland may have such sharks, the publication notes.
Scientists themselves were also surprised by the discovered fact. They are continue to work on the project (Scottish Shark Tagging Program), which will allow classification of sharks living off the coast Scotland. Before the start of the project this year, 32 species were known sharks. This list has now been expanded to 72.
