This unofficial status was awarded to the city of Hong Kong. The crowded streets of the metropolis are populated by 7 million people, which daily produce more than 13800 tons of solid waste. Experts estimate that every 27 days the Hong Kong people leave after the amount of garbage equivalent to the volume of a famous skyscraper Empire State Building. Extravagance is that daily on about 3,500 tons of food waste are dumped in the trash. On the area 426 square miles Hong Kong has to find the right one the place for safe storage of all this waste is becoming more difficult. Over the past 38 years, 13 surrounding landfills have closed in due to the lack of facilities for receiving garbage. Waste today the metropolis is taken at only three landfills, but by 2018 run out and their reserves of the area. Experts say no garbage recycling efforts will not save Hong Kong. The metropolitan government estimates the amount of solid household waste is growing much faster than expected and that huge pressure on the surrounding landfills is due to the way of life of society consumption. Probably the solution to the garbage problems of the city lies in revising attitudes towards lifestyle. Hong Kong will have to become less wasteful. Agree, it’s silly to throw away 3,500 tons food daily, when this waste cannot be disposed of. It is still and cynical towards the inhabitants of those regions of the planet in which due to natural disasters there is a shortage of food.
