In the UK, a previously unknown story about the legendary detective. As noted, this work could be written by Conan Doyle to help raise the right funds for rebuilding a local flood-damaged bridge in Scottish Selkirk town (1902).

The locals decided to raise money with the aim of restore the structure. For this, everyone has written one literary work. The result was a collection of 48 pages that have been published and sold out. Assembled this way funds were enough to build a new bridge. Entered this book a story (1300 words), attributed to Conan Doyle. IN the work describes the events occurring with Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr. Watson on his way to the city of Selkirk.

The book was discovered by the 80-year-old poet and historian Walter Elliot. More half a century ago, this collection was presented to him by a friend. Book all this time spent in the attic, but in the end Elliot opened it. Having stumbled upon a story, he was amazed at such a find.

It should be noted that the story of the detective is not signed. Thus, his authorship is a mystery. However, in favor of Conan Doyle says the following fact: the last page of the book indicates the writer’s participation in charity events in as an honored guest.

If Elliot’s assumptions are confirmed, then we can talk about Conan Doyle’s first previously unknown story to be released last 80 years. Walter Elliot is about to submit a work at the exhibition of the community center in the Scottish city of Selker.

What a pity that real paper books are getting smaller, because in a few decades, books will be printed exclusively on order.
