Every year, hundreds of people declare themselves mediums and the vast most of them are frank charlatans who draw money from gullible simpletons. Simple English Housewife Rosemary Brown claimed that she communicates with the spirits of the long-dead brilliant composers. It differed from others in that in evidence presented her contacts with the dead written under their dictation musical works, the level of which was more than high.
Not a sensation at first, but …
Professionals acquainted with the works “received” Mrs. Brown from the dead, unanimously noted the presence in each of these are the styles of that composer with whom Mrs. Brown “spoke” and from which received a “gift”. All this did not initially cause sensations. Are there any good musicians among charlatans capable of very tolerably imitate the musical style of the dead geniuses? Here only Rosemary had nothing to do with it. To the surprise of journalists, started digging its past (to bring it to clean water), she was no musician.
Non-musical girl
Rosemary Brown was born in 1916, his father was an electrician, mother worked at a local eatery. Above parents’s apartment there was a dance hall, and the girl grew to the sounds of tango, foxtrot and poles. Rosemary dreamed of becoming a dancer, but parents such a choice daughter considered a fool.
The girl tried to get involved in music, learn to play piano, but teachers killed a dream in the bud: the girl doesn’t there was no hearing, no sense of rhythm. Definitely, in the distant past, by the bear passed the crib of little Marie and gave the girl a tender the ear. In short, Rosemary owned the basics of the game and musical notation, but about no serious professional training was out of the question, but acquaintance with the work of the great composers of the past with her limited to knowing them by last name.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Brown brought notes of works in which the manners of Brahms and Beethoven, Bach and Grieg, Debussy and Mozart, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Schubert, Chopin, Schumann. Compose these Mrs. Brown couldn’t just because of her musical ignorance.
Unmasking Attempts
Skeptics began to argue that behind someone another, really possessing musical talents, but to that said their compelling “fairy!” graphologists: sheet music written by Rosemary herself Brown Moreover, calligraphy is consistent with the manner composer, whose alleged authorship is affixed to title page!
There was an idea that perhaps an unknown person fell into the hands of Rosemary a collection of unpublished works by musicians of the past but art historians laughed at the theory. Yes, not all music works have reached us, many have been lost. But rosemary brown brought more than 400 works attributed to the good ten authors! The possibility of the sudden appearance of such a huge the number of previously absolutely unknown musical creations art critics called impossible.
The Rosemary Brown Legacy
In 1971, the music company Philips released two CDs with melodies received by Mrs. Brown “from the other side”. Many compositions are still performed by symphony orchestras and famous pianists, some of whom (the most daring) the authors of the works are those whom Rosemary indicated.
Mrs. Brown herself left three books about her contacts with the world of the dead: “Take a look today”, “Immortals with me near” and “Unfinished symphonies.” She died November 16, 2001, leaving us a timid hope that maybe … someday … through some other medium … will reveal their creations early departed from us by Pushkin, Lermontov, Yesenin, Mayakovsky and many others.
