Acne, despite the fact that they live in different parts of the Earth, on spawning always go to the same place – in Sargassovo sea. Moreover, acne goes there once and for all, that is, removing offspring, they die. But the young, having matured, begins the return trip to the homeland of his parents, which sometimes takes him several years, since they often overcome thousands kilometers. And it is not clear what instinct or compass given to them from parents use acne.
Moreover, river eels return to the river, which was the birthplace their parents, be this reservoir at least for distant lands, while overcoming the path through the seas and oceans, rivers and lakes full dangers, so that later, ripening to continue offspring, again to go to the Sargasso Sea. Electric Acne Acrobats
Electric eels have another feature – the ability to hit your victim or scare the enemy off with a discharge current, and quite strong. At the beginning of the nineteenth century German traveler and zoologist Alexander von Humboldt described a case where the Indians of America catch eels with the help of horses. They bring animals into the water of the pond and then just wait for the eels start jumping out of the water, trying to “stick” to the horse’s body – here they are taken, as they say, still warm.

Until recently, these stories of a naturalist were considered no more than than tales. However, recently a biologist at Vanderbilt University (USA) Kenneth Catania (Kenneth Catania) proved that everything that told Alexander von Humboldt about electric eels, – the purest water true.
Experimenting for several weeks with eels, Catania came to concluded that eels attack huge animals that could be crocodiles or even artiodactyls (including horses) that entered water, for self-defense. With a huge discharge of electricity, such fish can seriously shock and even kill the same alligator, however, in the water itself there is not enough charge for this. AND then the eels begin to jump out of the water in order to intensify the shock the enemy’s body, and they purposefully try to get into the weakest points of the animal, for example, in the head.

For this reason, not only small ones are afraid of electric eels, but and large fish, and even crocodiles, lizards and many others representatives of the animal world.
By the way, in spite of its repulsive appearance, all acne – delicious fish that is good in any form, but especially – smoked. No wonder the Indians advised the traveler Alexander von Humboldt, who was highly respected, certainly catch eels, and even showed how to do it the simplest and effective way.
