At the Uruguay Summit, All the Largest Internet Organizations promised to free themselves from the influence of the US government.

Heads of ICANN, Internet Engineering Task Force, Internet Architecture Board, World Wide Web Consortium, Internet Society, as well as all five regional Internet registrars, promised to break ties with the US government.
