It remains a mystery why Stalin in 1942 gave US President Roosevelt copy of the movie “Volga, Volga.” However, if take into account the fact that the owner of the Kremlin never did anything without intent, then one can even assume that it was this film that pushed Americans are more likely to open a second front, which, ultimately, caused a more rapid defeat of fascist Germany.
First, Stalin showed the film “Volga, Volga” to the US ambassador. To I liked the picture, and then the “father of peoples” handed over a copy of the film to the American president. But Roosevelt at first didn’t understand anything, after watching the film sent to him, however, knowing Stalin well, he became look for hidden meaning or some hint in this. And found him when ordered the translation of the lyrics sounded in the movie. In a song dedicated to the ship “Sevrig”, there are lines that America gave Russia a steamboat, but this “vessel” has an awfully slow speed. Stalin reproaches America for slowness, Roosevelt exclaimed when they laid on the table the lyrics from “Volga, Volga”. Because we until now have not opened a front in Europe!
It’s hard to say exactly what role in the quickest discovery of this the second front played a gift “leader of all nations”, but, I think, that Stalin was pleased with Roosevelt’s reaction to the “sign of attention” with his side.
