Every year in the world planes fall and crash, people die. Douglas S-47 plane crash in September 1944 in Alaska stands in this the list is private. At 07:42, pilot Ray Prebstle got in touch and reported that the flight passes normally, the plane flies at an altitude of 2700 meters. It was his last land connection. At the estimated time Douglas in Fairbanks did not arrive. When by all accounts he ran out fuel, on earth they realized that a tragedy had occurred.
Crashed plane
They were looking for a plane. Several times flew along the entire track, but Douglas sank into the water. Three days later, one of the pilots found him. A wrecked car lay on an inaccessible peak high in the mountains in the snow at an altitude of more than 3.5 thousand meters. To get there, Douglas must was deviate from the route by 95 km. and gain extra 500m in height. What wind brought the car to this point? Then nobody about it I thought. Of course, the chances of surviving an accident at that height – minimal, but what miracles do not happen!
A climber with a 20-year experience urgently arrived at Elmendorf base Grant Pearson. Several times he flew over the scene of the tragedy, evaluating the terrain. At the airport, he was met by the commander of the air base Colonel Palmer. Pearson began there was a report but the colonel interrupted him: “Tell me straight, can you get to the plane?” Pearson said, “Yes, sir.”
Dead bodies
In total, the formed group included 44 people. By plane them brought to the foot of the mountain and they began the ascent. Mid 10 November they reached the pass and saw a plane. The next day, people dug for more than 8 hours like damned and with the same result.
We carefully examined the rock: if there were pilots in the cockpit, a place the collision was supposed to be stained with blood. The rock was splashed with fuel, no traces of blood were found. Pearson ordered stop searching and get ready to return.
The case is closed, the secret remains
The final report said that most likely in a collision all (!) bodies were thrown out of the plane and fell into cracks, and then with an avalanche descended and fell asleep. Management pretended to believes that. No one dared to write the truth: what at the time of the accident there were no more people in Douglas, and an empty plane crashed into the rock.
All those flying that tragic flight were recognized dead. However actually where people disappeared from flying at an altitude of 3,000 meters the plane remained a mystery.
