“Wind Phone” – payphone from which you can call the afterlife

Near the Japanese village of Otsuchi, on a hill with beautiful overlooking the Pacific Ocean, there is an amazing telephone box (see photo), which still looks pretty well-groomed, but inside It has an outdated black device with a rotary disk.

This phone box is not connected by cable or wireless. system with at least some operator, that is, from here it seems to be impossible to call. However, since 2011, when in March there was a terrible tsunami and an earthquake in the country coming out of the sun, thousands of Japanese people came here and called their dead to relatives.

However, the Otsuchi booth was not built to help the mourners, as It turned out that a resident of this village Itaru Sasaki built it back in 2010 year, that is, a year before the tragedy on the Thohoku coast. That year the man lost his beloved brother, and therefore came up with this one a “telephone of the winds” arranged on top of a hill which, according to men, helped him connect with the soul of a deceased relative and thereby cope with the grief of loss that has fallen on him.

Later his example was followed by those who lost loved ones in the result of a terrible tsunami. It’s hard to say whether people really connected with the dead, but a stream of people wishing to speak with a “voice wind “was for some time not running out. And then he gradually weakened, although not completely gone. Even today there are people who come here, they pick up the old rotary apparatus and listen, even they say – and God alone knows that he feels that he hears human…
