Back in 1993, for us, the famous US company Space Marketing Inc decided to create a Space Billboard the size of square kilometer. A billboard of this format launched on low orbit of the Earth, would be visible to all earthlings.

The cost of installing a unique Advertising Space Board valued at tens of millions of dollars, but this did not stop advertisers, especially ahead of the 1996 Olympics. Dozens of companies have expressed a desire to participate in such a grand project.

However, many prominent figures, among whom was the famous astronomer Karl Sagan protested against this barbaric catastrophic plan for the planet due to space clogging with advertising trash. TO environmentalists join protesters by threatening national boycott of any company that decides to advertise in space. Soon US Congressman Ed Markey Initiates Prohibition advertising in space. And such a law in the United States was adopted, however, in later he was circumvented in every possible way (edited), allowing for example, advertisements on spacesuits of astronauts, spaceships and etc.

And finally, it’s worth remembering that the first to offer advertising in space, there was a Russian – Alexander Lavrenov. True, unlike American company Space Marketing In, he offered a completely different way to put ads in orbit. For this, according to the scientist, need to install special solar reflectors on the satellites lights that would collect in the sky a giant luminous display with slogans and brands of companies advertising themselves. About this idea in they wrote and argued a lot of their time, but to realize it enough, or funds, or technical capabilities. And although the idea “advertising in space” many countries, for example, more in this indeed Japan is doing well, not being left so far, the most daring and Russian scientist’s rather harmless project for Earth almost sunk into oblivion …

However, the most pessimistic scientists warn that the desire to bring advertising into space (and such aspirations in the modern world of shameless business abound, it can be easily traced, for example, even by NASA) turn around not only spacecraft orbiting space garbage, but also disfigured all kinds of clear skies by advertising. And this most terrible advertisement in the history of the development of marketing (worse than any weather) it can no longer be turned off with a single click on remote control button “TV”.
