American scientists drilled a well with a depth of about 800 meters to Lake Willans, conducted a series of additional tests and confirmed that with water they managed to get a lot microorganisms living in the dark waters of the Antarctic lake with from time immemorial. First preliminary tests with DNA sensitive fluorescent paint allowed to determine the presence in water of traces of organic compounds of biological origin. Scientists conducted six more additional tests with using various methods, after which they are with all confidence were able to say: in the waters of the ice-cold Antarctic lakes there microbiological life. The program “World of Science” will tell more about this discovery and what significance it can have for world studies.
