Scientists have already proven that an ordinary hamburger can be grown in laboratories of just a few cow stem cells. Maybe, the day will come when all our foods we are used to see on the dining table will be grown without nature intervention and agriculture.

Designer Joanna Schmeer tried as part of her new project show how food might look in the near future. She developed seven different products that are theoretically designed to provide a person with all the substances necessary for survival, and namely water, vitamins, fiber, sucrose, fats, proteins and minerals.

Enzyme-filled bioplastics cells could mimic living cells and produce the desired substance with artificial photosynthesis.

The designer was inspired by the creation of his invention. a study published this year that proved that it’s possible to get a “plastic” cell capable of chemical reaction. The authors of the study believe that in the future they will be able to create a bioplastic cell that will look and function like a real one.

“This is a purely conceptual project, and so far so far it’s technically impossible to turn this concept into reality, – explains Joanna Schmeer – but since the project is based on results recently accomplished scientific discovery, then its implementation could come true in 40-50 years. ”
The designer’s goal is to show that eating fake food can be as enjoyable as eating Usual goodies grown in a natural way.

“What we perceive as the taste of food is actually a combination of the senses – vision, smell, touch and taste. Therefore, instead of trying to imitate traditional dishes, we can create their new, artificial counterparts by making emphasis on visual and tactile sensations, “- suggests designer.
This spongy white product that looks like a giant peanut with tentacles, produces sucrose and oxygen.

In the next video that Joanna shot, you can watch how each model works:
By 2050, we will have to increase production 70% nutrition to feed the growing Earth population. So Is it better to find alternative sources of food than thinking how to grow more food?
Food production is not the only thing capable of high enzyme and endowed foods properties of living bacteria. Another feature of this concept consists in developing an alternative light source and improving air quality.
