Off the coast of Oregon on August 16, 2019 recorded a powerful earthquake of 5.4 points, which is estimated experts were at a depth of 10 kilometers on the edge of the plate of Juan de Fuca.

Researchers believe that this stove is the remaining a fragment of the Farallon plate floating in the mantle of the Earth beneath the North America. Seismologists believe that if an earthquake occurs in these places, it means the Pacific plate has set in motion, or processes unknown to scientists have begun to flow here.

Experts believe that if the Oregon coast earthquake is more than 5 points, which means here you should expect very soon more powerful points.

For many years, scientists using special equipment have been researching plate of Juan de Fuca. The result of this study was a gap found in the slab, which has great depth and extends into mantle of the Earth.

According to scientists, the length of the fault is about 200 kilometers. Researchers believe that this same hole could appear the cause of volcanic activity in Oregon. Scientists presented a study on this fault in a journal Geophysical Research Letters.

Experts conclude that the ancient Farallon plate began melt rapidly. This may increase seismic activity in North America. Compared with these processes even the Pacific “ring of fire” will seem the most calm zone in terms of seismic activity.
