A photo from open sources Last month we wrote that the group international specialists managed to grow from stem cells miniature human heart. American scientists have gone yet further and created in the laboratory a copy of the brain person.
According to project manager Rene Anand, who is a professor at Ohio University, an organ grown almost entirely corresponds to the brain of a five-week human embryo. In him there are about ninety-nine percent of the genes available in real body. All major parts of the brain are formed, however the circulatory system is absent.
Until the Americans divulge all the details of their surprising achievement, however Anand assured that as soon as scientists will receive a patent for technology, an experiment report will appear in one of the largest scientific journals. According to assessment researchers, their biological model of the brain is currently the most accurate. The authors of the project note that previous researchers copied only individual components body, however, as mentioned above, only blood vessels.
To grow this model, the Americans needed twelve weeks. Scientists took adult human skin cells and reprogrammed them into induced stem cells capable of to form any tissue of the human body. According to researchers, their technology will test the effectiveness of intended for brain medication and study the causes the occurrence of diseases of the human nervous system.
Interestingly, some world scientists called the experiment unethical colleagues. The Americans responded by saying that sensory stimuli do not enter the model of the human brain, therefore, there are no any thought processes. It means, that the resulting organ cannot be considered alive.
