Petersburg Institute of Nuclear Physics equipped the first Antarctica is an open-air laboratory. Located it is near the year-round Vostok station, and was built to to melt the falling snow, removing it from it cosmic dust. Scientific team of the cryoastrobiology laboratory PNPI collects and investigates particles of extraterrestrial dust to detect inside the dust particles that came to us from outer space, nitrogenous bases, organic molecules and amino acids that have been named researchers by the “seeds of life” or “blocks of life.”

If the “seeds of life” are found in cosmic dust, there will be proved the theory of panspermia: the theory of the origin of life on our a planet that is supposed to have been brought to Earth wandering asteroids and comets. In addition, she is completely will refute the theory of self-emergence of life on planet Earth.

Head of the Antarctic open-air laboratory Sergey Bulat says that when evidence of the transference of life is found using cosmic dust, scientists will not stop at their studies and will study the question – where exactly are the “blocks of life” were brought to Earth: from neighboring planets and their satellites, from asteroid belt, or intergalactic dust flew to us with comets from the Horta cloud, and maybe it was brought from far corners of space.

The fact that this laboratory was built specifically in Antarctica – not an accident. After all, only on the eternally snowy mainland is such clean air, not polluted by car exhausts and emissions technogenic production, there is practically no population and rainfall suitable for research. To build a similar science lab in a city densely populated by people and contaminated by them would require huge equipment costs clean rooms. In Antarctica, scientists herself presented all the conditions nature.
