This is the conclusion reached by scientists at the University of Exeter. Great Britain, which, since 2011, conducted large-scale study on what role these animals play in maintaining ecological balance in nature.
It turned out that, building their dams, beavers thereby intercept a huge amount of silt sediments, nitrogenous and phosphate fertilizers leaching from agricultural land in rivers.

This is what Richard University professor says about it. Barbecue:
Soils used for agriculture are practically irretrievably lost, because they are carried away by river waters. At the same time rivers are heavily polluted by chemicals, leading to degradation water resources, the inability to fully use them in quality of drinking water. And beavers solve all these problems building their dams on rivers.
The United Kingdom is already thinking how to radically change current situation with these animals. The fact is that in Great Britain, beavers were destroyed in the XVI century because of their valuable hide, cured meat and odorous glands. However ten years back one colony of beavers was discovered in Scotland on the River Tay, the second a little later – in Knapdale Forest, then in Devon on the river Otter …
So there is hope for a restoration of the population of these riverine animals, which will successfully solve the above environmental issue. And practically without any special expenses – you just need to take care of beavers, creating them the most favorable conditions for life and reproduction. And of course, for construction dams …
