Black Sea – a barrel with gunpowder

Researchers at the University of Liège (Belgium) found that over the past sixty years, the oxygen layer in the Black Sea reduced from one hundred and forty to ninety meters. Environmentalists sound the alarm because for this reason it should be reduced by forty percent the inhabitants of this reservoir. And this is a real environmental catastrophe.

However, the problem of the Black Sea is much more serious, say scientists. The fact is that this is one of the deepest inland water bodies of the world, reaching in some places up to 2210 meters depths with an average of 1240 meters (for comparison, the average depth of the neighboring Sea of Azov is just over seven meters). In this case, the upper oxygen layer of the Black Sea is becoming more and more thin, and everything else in this pond is hydrogen sulfide, which can to explode at any moment, for example, it’s enough to throw it here deep sea bomb.

And the explosion of such a huge amount of hydrogen sulfide is just destroy our planet, that’s why the Black Sea is quite possible count as a planetary mine or that barrel of gunpowder on which the earth rests. Compared to this time bomb Yellowstone supervolcano, about which so much lately conversations may seem like a child’s toy. Of course, hydrogen sulfide Black Sea is still reliably protected by the water column, however this the oxygen layer, as we see, is rapidly destroyed.

This contributes, according to Belgian scientists, to the global warming observed on the planet, as well as the so-called eutrophication, i.e. saturation of the reservoir with nitrogen and phosphorus, which leads to an intensive distribution of cyanobacteria and algae that prevent sunlight from entering the water and therefore interfering photosynthesis of plants with the release of oxygen.

And since the oxygen border is reduced, then, accordingly, the volume of hydrogen sulfide in the Black Sea, that is, a mine slow motion is becoming more powerful and less and less predictable …
