Dean Potter – famous American baseball player, base jumper, highliner, climber and solo climber – died with his friend during an unauthorized base jump committed in Yosemite National Park (USA). The death of his famous challenging ascents and first-ascent of the athlete has become great shock for his fans.
On Saturday, sixteenth of May, the forty-three year old extreme and his partner made a jump from the Taft Point cliff, the height of which exceeds two and a half kilometers. Unfortunately, the jump became last for both daredevils. According to Dean Potter’s friend, she continuously watched the course of action and was horrified when I saw that both athletes disappeared below, while none of them never opened the parachute.
In the park, they immediately began a search operation, but the bodies the dead were found only days later. It is noteworthy that base jumping – extreme parachute jumps from not intended for this, often too low points – it is illegal here. Athletes who decided to neglect the rules intended to fly through the hole in the rock, however, as it turned out, did not have time to reveal parachutes and crashed.
Potter was considered one of the most daring and inventive extremes of the planet. A man taught his dangerous craft dog Visper and often took the pet to jump. About the Fourth Friend Americans even made a documentary called “How dogs are flying. ”
