Yesterday, in the capital of the Republic of Korea, Seoul, a scientific conference of seismologists of the world whom this important meeting assembled the Korea Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources.
The conference was attended by such world luminaries as Jiaki Liu, Clive Oppenheimer, Richard Stone, famous for their exploration of the North Korean volcano Pektusan. And it is not by chance: the scientists of the world care about the current state of this volcano.

Its huge crater is the result of an apocalyptic eruption, what happened here back in 946, which is called a disaster millennia. According to a myth cultivated in North Korea, on the mountain at that moment came down the founding father of the state and progenitor of the Korean people with whom the great Kim Jong-un is in direct relationship. Therefore Pektusan volcano for North Koreans – the holy mountain of the revolution, about which it even carved a huge inscription of 216 meters.
At the turn of the millennium, the extinct crater of the volcano came to life again, being proactive, which worried the Chinese authorities, Republic of Korea and even Japan. For this reason, the DPRK was even the “iron curtain” was lifted and volcanologists headed there with Richard Stone to study the situation with the Pactusan Crater.
The volcano was surrounded by numerous sensors and others. ultra-modern appliances, as a result of which it was found that the thickness of the earth’s crust under the volcano is just over 35 kilometers (this is very small), and therefore the magnitude of the earthquake at the level of 5-7 points on the Richter scale may well lead to the eruption of this fire-breathing monster.
As for the “fire-breathing monster” there was no exaggeration. The fact is that in 946, as scientists established, Pektusan volcano threw at least 25 cubic kilometers of rocks and 45 million tons of sulfur gases, which was also accompanied by flows 2 billion tons of boiling water. If this happens again – not enough this eastern region of the Earth does not seem.

At the same time, the nuclear test site, on which the DPRK military is on September 3 �tested the hydrogen bomb, located from the crater of the volcano only 115 kilometers, and the magnitude of the bomb explosion was 6.3 points on a scale Richter. After this hydrogen test increased sharply the number of earthquakes in the vicinity of Mount Paektu.
